oct 19 - The Simpsons is giving one lucky contest winner the chance to make others yellow with envy by creating a character for the animated TV series. The new Springfield resident will appear in an early 2010 episode featuring Chris Martin of Coldplay as guest star.

Online submissions at thesimpsons.com should be "pithy and funny," said executive producer Al Jean, who will help judge them along with series creator Matt Groening.

apr 21 - The Simpsons has returned to Venezuelan television after being deemed unsuitable for children and replaced by Baywatch. A spokeswoman for the station Televen said The Simpsons, left, which had been branded “inappropriate” in its original 11 a.m. slot, would be broadcast at a later hour. Venezuela’s National Telecommunications Commission had forced Televen to take it off the air under threat of a fine.
