An Adelaide brewery got into big trouble when it started manufacturing Duff beer, Homer’s brew of choice. Fox, owners of The Simpsons, took the brewery to court in 1996 and forced them to stop making it. Unopened cartons of Duff Beer now sell for thousands.

The character of Krusty the Clown on The Simpsons was partially inspired by a real-life clown named ?Rusty Nails? whom ?The Simpsons? creator Matt Groening watched as a child growing up in Portland, Oregon, United States of America.

In the third season of The Simpsons , Smithers says to Mr. Burns, “Sir, there may never be another time to say … I love you, sir.” Mr. Burns responds, “Oh, hot dog! Thank you for making my last few moments on earth socially awkward.”

The Simpsons was the first true TV series hit for Fox; it was the first Fox show to appear in the top twenty highest-rated shows of the time. It also sparked controversy, as Bart Simpson was portrayed as a rebellious troublemaker who caused trouble and got away with it.

Around 2,000 people took part in the survey which decided that rather than having an incompetent in charge of the USA, they would like Homer Simpson to take the role. In second place came West Wing’s fictional president, Josiah Bartlett.

The Bee Gees ‘Stayin’ alive’ has been played in two episodes of The Simpsons : ‘Bart’s Girlfriend’ and ‘The Two Mrs Nahasapeem-apelitons’. In another episode, ‘Two Bad Neighbors,’ Homer sings ‘Stayin alive’ with different words.

Where’s Herman? He’s been in the background a bunch of times, but he hasn’t had a speaking line since “Treehouse of Horror VIII”. How weird is that? Over seven years. Herman’s not the only character who has seemingly vanished without trace.

Like most of his crew, Mike Scully (executive producer) was pulling for Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election. “I don’t want to speak for everyone,” he declared, “but there are many people on the writing staff who can’t believe that this election is as close as it is.”

Bart and Homer Simpson will flick the switch on the Telford town festive fairy lights on November 4. It wiill also see the launch of the town centre’s late night shopping – which is being extended by an hour until 9pm this year.

“The best part of all this,” “Simpsons” creator Matt Groening once remarked of his fame, “is seeing Bart Simpson graffiti on freeway underpasses.” And the worst part? “Seeing Bart Simpson graffiti on the side of my house!”

In Radio Bart, during the commercial for the microphone at the boardroom scene, the head of the board meeting is “Quimby” that is, the character is drawn as Quimby. Obviously a different, one-time character that looks just like Quimby. Voice is different.

This year’s alternative Christmas message is going to be done by The Simpsons in UK. Channel 4 take over the rights to the long running comedy show later this year and are planning a four minute special to run at the same time as the Queen’s speech.

Rick Miller performs “MacHomer” on Friday and Saturday at the DeBartolo Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. “MacHomer” combines the voices of “The Simpsons” with the text of “MacBeth.”

Grandpa Simpson won the house (in which Homer grew up in) on a crooked 50’s gameshow. Grandpa said he “ratted on everyone and got off scot free.”
Grandpa was voted the handsomest boy in Albany, NY.

 

Homer’s stumpin’ for votes in Florida! Or at least one of his cardboard stand-up figures is. Someone had propped one up alongside the road with “Vote Homer” written in a speech balloon next to his head. I wonder how many write-in votes he’ll get…

In its 1998 issue celebrating the greatest achievements in arts and entertainment of the 20th Century, TIME magazine named The Simpsons the century’s best television series. In that same issue, Bart Simpson was named to the Time 100.

Wild Bill?s must have based its burgers-of-all-variations menu on a Simpsons episode. You can, if you really want to, get your burger with guac, sprouts, pineapple, blue cheese, japs, and just about any kind of cheese made in America.

I think the funniest thing in that episode is when Homer is in the land of chocolate and then he sees the sign saying ?Chocolate half price!? and that excites him the most even though every single thing around him is made of chocolate says Al Jean.

 

There’s never been a shortage of animated programs for kids, but after The Simpsons hit our screens in 1989 a new genre emerged: animation for adults. But it’s not as if these animators and writers weren’t out there beforehand.

The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean says the show?s writers decided early on it would be funny to drop hints that Smithers was gay but never make a big deal about it. Most of the hints have come in the form of Smithers? lavish devotion to Mr. Burns.

When Ralph originally appeared on the Simpsons, he wasn’t associated with the Wiggum family (He also had a different voice & personality). It was later on in the series that the writers decided that he would be perfect as the son of Police Chief Wiggum…

Near the end of the episode, when everyone is in Flander’s bomb shelter arguing, if you look extremely closely, during one clip (about 2-3 sec. long) Waldo from the “Where’s Waldo” line of books appears, complete with glasses and stripped hat.

On the Movie “Day of the Locust,” Donald Sutherland played the character Homer Simpson, an accountant who is driven to a nasty, desperate act because of his unrequited love for the character played by Karen Black.

 

The episode Kamp Krusty was originally going to be a Simpsons movie. However, it became a regular episode in the end. Rumors have circulated on the internet about a movie already being in development

James L Brooks is the man who ensured the cartoon went on air. As executive producer of The Tracey Ullman Show, he invited Groening to develop The Simpsons as a regular five-minute short, then shepherded the show into its own series.
